Eric Lynn Wright nacque da Richard e Kathie Wright il 7 settembre 1963 a
Compton, una delle aree, insieme a South Central, Crenshaw e Watts, più pericolose di Los Angeles visti i continui


omicidi dovuti agli scontri fra le gang, in particolare tra i Bloods e i Crips. Negli anni dell'adolescenza,
dopo aver vissuto di espedienti, Eric, crescendo nei quartieri di Compton iniziò 

ad avere anche lui un
modo di pensare da gangster di strada e si unì ai Kelly Park Compton Crips, dove probabilmente ebbe origine il
soprannome di Eazy-E. Iniziò quindi a spacciare droga 

per conto dei Crips. Successivamente
familiarizzò con l'hip hop come musica e come cultura iniziando a mettere da parte il denaro ricavato con lo spaccio
per fondare la sua etichetta 

discografica, la Ruthless Records. In questo periodo conobbe rapper locali come
Dr. Dre o Ice Cube e decise di collaborare con loro una volta fondata la Ruthless. I soldi messi da parte 

illegalmente da Eazy ammontavano a più di 250.000 dollari. Questo denaro gli permise, insieme al manager ebreo
Jerry Heller, di fondare la sua casa discografica che fu la prima in tutta la 

West Coast (ma probabilmente
anche di tutta America) ad usare come genere musicale il gangsta rap.




Eazy-E, pseudonimo di Eric Wright (Compton, 7 settembre 1963 – Los Angeles, 26 marzo
1995), è stato un rapper e produttore discografico statunitense.

Eazy-E era, e tuttora è considerato il
Padrino del gangsta rap visto che ha fondato lui stesso la prima label specializzata in questo genere di rap: la
Ruthless Records. Eazy ebbe una 

fortunata carriera solista, sia da rapper che da produttore. Rimasto alla
guida della Ruthless Records, fu il produttore esecutivo per alcuni dei rapper più famosi degli ultimi decenni, tra


cui Above the Law, l'ex N.W.A MC Ren, Kokane e i Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. A distanza di anni dalla sua morte
resta tra i rappresentanti più influenti e di maggior successo di hardcore hip hop 

e gangsta rap.

Diventato inizialmente famoso come membro e leader del gruppo N.W.A, è stato lui a prendere con sé rapper
divenuti molto noti, come Dr. Dre e Ice Cube e fu quindi uno dei primi a rendere 

famoso il gangsta rap. Eazy
conosceva bene anche 2Pac, altra icona del gangsta rap. Alcune voci dicevano che 2Pac sarebbe dovuto andare alla
Ruthless nel 1995, ma che poi non riuscì ad 

entrare nella label perché fu incarcerato a seguito di
alcune accuse di violenza sessuale.

Dopo lo scioglimento degli N.W.A Eazy ha saputo farsi un nome anche come
solista con album che hanno riscosso un ottimo successo, alcuni pubblicati dopo la sua morte avvenuta nel 1995, 

vittima dell'AIDS

The discography of Eazy-E, an American rapper from
Compton, California, consists of two studio albums, three extended plays, two compilation albums, and eight singles.
Eazy was also 

featured on the single "Game Wreck-Oniz-Iz Game" by Above the Law and "Foe tha Love of $" by
Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. His music has been released through record labels Ruthless Records, 

Priority Records,
Relativity Records, and Epic Records. Five of his albums have been awarded a certification by the Recording Industry
Association of America (RIAA). This discography 

includes music videos and collaborations as well as
albums.

Eazy-E's music career started in 1986 with the hip hop group N.W.A, where he would perform on all
four of the studio albums. In 1988, before N.W.A had disbanded, Eazy released Eazy-Duz-It 

as his first solo
effort. Eazy-Duz-It peaked at number 41 on the Billboard 200 and became Eazy's most successful album, selling 3 million
albums in the US by 1994.[1] In 1992 it was 

certified double Platinum by the RIAA. The album's first single,
"Eazy-er Said Than Dunn", would go on to peak at number 84 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. "Eazy-Duz-It" was released in
1989 

and only charted on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart. "We Want Eazy" was also released in 1989 and
charted on both the Hot Rap Tracks chart and the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.
